CNC Turner – Programmer / Setter / Operator

Location: Coventry
Days - 8.30am to 5pm. Mon to Friday or Nights- 6pm to 4.30am, Mon to Thursday
Salary:  £13 to £20 per hour, Depending on experience Nightshift premium + 1/3 of basic rate

 

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced CNC Turner with strong programming, setting, and operating skills to join our precision engineering team. Working on Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes (including fixed and sliding head), you’ll machine high-quality components in materials such as aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel, titanium, and Inconel.

This is a great opportunity for a skilled CNC Lathe Programmer/Setter/Operator who takes pride in producing parts to tight tolerances and enjoys working in a professional, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programming CNC Turning Centres using Fanuc controls (offline and at-machine)

  • Setting machines, tooling, fixtures, and datums accurately and efficiently

  • Operating CNC lathes to produce components to drawing tolerances

  • Making program edits and offset adjustments to maintain accuracy

  • Conducting first-off, in-process, and final inspections using calibrated equipment

  • Reading and following engineering drawings, route cards, and work instructions

  • Ensuring correct packaging and handling of precision components

  • Maintaining machine cleanliness, coolant checks, and following maintenance schedules

  • Adhering to health & safety procedures and supporting continuous improvement initiatives

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CNC Turner / CNC Lathe Programmer-Setter-Operator

  • Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

  • Competent in using inspection equipment (micrometres, verniers, gauges)

  • Experience working to tight tolerances in a precision machining environment

  • Organised, reliable, and quality-focused with good problem-solving skills

  • Flexible and team-oriented, with a positive and proactive attitude
