Reference Checking Policy General Overview: Reference checks for temporary workers at Elevation People Solutions are carried out under the following circumstances: 1. When requested by a client or required by contract; 2. When legally or professionally mandated due to the nature of the assignment; 3. When the role involves working with children or vulnerable adults.
Policy Guidelines: - References must cover the six months preceding the worker’s registration. - In cases of unemployment or unavailable employment references, two-character references from professionals with at least a two-year relationship with the candidate are required. - A break in the six-month period requires at least one character reference, alongside any employer references. Supply with Pending References: A worker may commence an assignment with one satisfactory reference if: - The client is informed and agrees; - Remaining references are obtained within 10 working days. Client-Specific Requirements: Some clients may require more extensive referencing (e.g., five years of employment history). These must be clearly documented in the assignment request form. Low-History Candidate Considerations: If a client accepts candidates with limited employment history due to the nature of the role, this agreement must be documented accordingly. Interview Preparation: Ensure all relevant details are gathered during the interview to streamline the referencing process. Reference Collection Methods (in priority order): 1. Verbal – Contact the last employer and document feedback on attitude, reliability, honesty, and punctuality. 2. Email – Used if verbal contact is not possible. 3. Postal – If verbal and email methods fail. 4. Written – Acceptable for individuals without a work history (e.g., Records of Achievement, military discharge papers). Should be supplemented with client references.
